Scavengers Marketplace: A Paradise for Treasure Hunters

This Palmetto shop is full of unexpected finds.

There’s shopping, and then there’s the experience of wandering through a treasure trove like Scavengers Marketplace in Palmetto. This isn’t the kind of place where you dash in for something on a list. It’s the kind of place where you wander, linger, and stumble across treasures you didn’t even know you were looking for.

Vintage furniture with character, handmade décor that feels personal, and quirky one-of-a-kind finds all come together under one roof in the most perfectly eclectic way.

Scavengers Marketplace has been part of the community for almost a decade, started by Klark and Sherry Kelley with the idea of giving artists, collectors, and makers a space to shine. What began as a humble flea market has grown into a vibrant mix of booths, displays, and stories, each one with a personality of its own.

It's a family affair

Scavengers Marketplace is a true family-run business. Klark, a proud Veteran and longtime retail pro, sets the vision and keeps things moving forward. Sherry brings the heart, curating the look and feel of the space and welcoming new vendors into the fold. Their son Austin adds a spark of energy that makes visits memorable, and if Uncle Mike happens to be around, you’re guaranteed a good story or two.

Locals love it for the nostalgia and charm, while visitors are drawn in by the variety and authenticity. The flow of shoppers is always pretty steady, but they still always manage to hold onto that small-town friendliness that makes each visitor feel welcome.

The Kellys also work hard to make sure their business stays connected to the community around it. Nonprofits like the Bailey Baio Angel Foundation and the Service Club of Manatee County have been given space inside the shop, helping raise awareness and support. They’re also regular supporters of Veterans’ causes, Toys for Tots, Dogs Inc., and breast cancer awareness efforts. For them, giving back is simply a way of life.

A space where ideas take off

One of the coolest things about Scavengers Marketplace is how often it serves as a launchpad. Over the years, dozens of artists and entrepreneurs who started out here have gone on to open their own thriving businesses around the county. It’s proof of what can happen when people are given the right space and encouragement.

And for DIY lovers, here’s a bonus: Scavengers Marketplace is one of only a handful of Diamond Retailers of Fusion Mineral Paint across the United States. You’ll find rows of high-quality paints and finishes, along with advice from a team that knows their way around a creative project.
