Kronan Swedish Punsch Brings Old World Flavor to Bradenton

Meet the maker, local resident Henrik Facile.

Bradenton might not be the first place you'd expect to find an old-world Scandinavian Rum liqueur, but that's exactly what makes KRONAN Swedish Punsch so interesting.

This centuries-old drink, once a favorite among sailors in Northern Europe, is now produced by a small, independent company led by local resident Henrik Facile.

A trained sommelier and beverage innovator with more than 30 years in the industry, Henrik brought KRONAN to the U.S. in 2012 and made Bradenton his home in 2017. Since then, he has been introducing people to this historic spirit that blends tradition with modern tastes.

Today, KRONAN is available in 26 U.S. states, throughout Europe, and in South Korea. You can also find it in several online stores.

What is KRONAN Swedish Punsch?

KRONAN Swedish Punsch is made with aged rums from Java, Indonesia, Port Mourant, Guyana, and Jamaica. The taste is warm and aromatic, with notes of dried fruit, tea, and toffee. It's slightly smoky on the finish, smooth on the palate, and balanced enough to stand on its own or serve as a cocktail base.

You can pick up a bottle locally at Hurricane Liquors or Doctor's Office on Anna Maria Island. It's also available through select distributors for retail or restaurant use.

Try These 3 Easy Cocktails

KRONAN shines in both classic and creative recipes. Here are three that are easy to make and showcase the liqueur's range:

Doctor Cocktail
This two-ingredient classic brings out the heart of KRONAN's flavor. With 60ml of KRONAN and 30ml of fresh lime juice, it strikes a perfect balance between warm and zesty. The sweetness from the rum base meets the sharp citrus in a way that feels refreshing but never overpowering. A simple drink served with a lime wheel, it combines a hint of old-world charm with a finish that is crisp and clean. Its easy to make, easy to love, and leaves just enough intrigue to go back for another round.

Biffy Cocktail
The Biffy is a cocktail with layers. It combines 30ml of KRONAN with 60ml of gin, 30ml of lemon juice, and a smooth egg white or vegan alternative. The spice from the Punsch wraps around the botanicals of the gin, while the lemon adds a focused brightness. What sets this apart is the texture. The egg white gives it a silky body that lingers just long enough on the palate. It's tart, aromatic, and slightly savory in all the right ways. It's a kind of drink that feels familiar at first, but reveals something more with every sip.

May Blossom Fizz
For something lighter without sacrificing flavor, the May Blossom Fizz is a solid choice. It starts with 60ml of KRONAN, paired with 22.5ml of lemon juice and 7.5ml of grenadine, topped off with soda for a gentle fizz. The result is floral, subtly sweet, and refreshingly tart, almost like a spiced sparkling lemonade with depth. Its easy to imagine this served in a tall glass with ice, enjoyed on a breezy porch or backyard get-together. The color alone draws you in, but it's the clean finish that makes it stand out. Its a sessionable drink that still feels thoughtful.
