Walking into a space where you can slow down, unplug, and get your hands messy (in the best possible way) feels like a rare treat these days. That's exactly what you'll find at Canvas and Clay Art Studio in Palmetto. It's colorful. It's welcoming. And it's the kind of place you'll want to return to with family, for a fun night with friends, or just to enjoy a little creative "me time."

How It All Got Started

Stephany Polokonis has always had a thing for art. She was the kid who loved pottery class and could spend hours painting. But like a lot of us, she ended up working in the corporate world while raising a family. Once her kids were grown and she had settled into Parrish, she started looking for a place nearby where she could get creative again. Nothing turned up, so she built it herself.

Canvas and Clay Art Studio started taking shape years before the doors opened. Stephany did her homework, learned the ropes, and pushed through a few funding hurdles along the way. After lots of research (and some patience), she found the right spot in Palmetto. The studio officially opened in January 2025.

The Crew Behind Canvas and Clay Art Studio

The studio may have started as Stephany's dream, but it's grown into a full-on family affair. Her sister helps manage the space, her partner Chris handles the tech and photography in between nursing shifts, and her kids pitch in when they can. That energy shows up in the studio's vibe. It's relaxed, down-to-earth, and full of heart.

You don't need to be "an artist" to create something fun. You just need to be curious. There's a big shelf of pottery options, which are mostly under $20, plenty of paint colors, and no pressure to be perfect. Just show up and enjoy yourself.

What Makes This Studio Stand Out

Canvas and Clay Art Studio has quickly become a favorite spot for locals looking for something fun and different. It's great for walk-ins, but also ideal for group events, homeschool outings, and grown-up paint nights. Bring your own drinks and snacks, gather your crew, and turn a regular evening into something memorable.

The studio also makes a point of giving back. They've supported organizations like Autism Awareness, the Parrish Civic Association, Manatee Chamber of Commerce, and Kiwanis. They're also always looking for ways to connect with local nonprofits, especially those supporting kids and animals.
